Journal 41: Analyzing Visuals

On page 648 of our textbook, there is a picture of red dragon with blue, repetitive curve as the background. First thing I notice in the picture is it’s color, the color choice is very vivid and bright. The surface seems rough and hard to me, even though I can’t feel or actually see the painting. The bright color helped convey the message the painter wants to distribute. I think he is trying to emphasize the dragon is a dangerous animal that comes with dark waves. The scale of the dragon and waves are the parts that are repetitive in the image.
On page 649 of our textbook, there are more questions referring to the image on page 648. There are also smaller images that zoom in on certain parts of the dragon image. First, the strong and bright color imminently grabs the viewer’s attention. Blue and red being the only color of the image creates a traditional feeling for the image. Dragon become very outstanding is one other  effect of the two contrasting color. As for the not blended nor hidden lines, it contributes to the 3D feeling of the image. I think the artist put repetitive patterns on the image because he is a bit lazy.
